But there is even more this year, starting with special sessions in the afternoon and a vendors market too. Complete information on our website with the registration links and event flyer. Tomatoes have a celebrated history in the Ozarks. Tomato growing and canning as a commercial enterprise began in the Ozarks around 1880 and reached a peak during the 1920s and 1930s. The USDA reports that tomatoes are the second most commonly consumed vegetable in the US, second only to potatoes. Americans consume about 46 pounds of potatoes per person each year and 31 pounds of tomatoes per person each year. And gardeners here in the Ozarks still love to grow tomatoes, but they can be challenging. Come to the expo and share in the flavor and excitement of a quality Ozarks or home grown tomato! more...
