Engagement and Stakeholder Relations - Monroe County Fair

When:  Tuesday, July 17, 2018, 1:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Description:

In every Missouri County, an MU Extension council, comprised of elected and appointed citizens, guides local educational programming. County council members are partners in the entire educational process, from needs assessment through program implementation and evaluation of outcomes. There are also seven regional councils and a state council. These play a very critical role in full filling the land grant mission and the mission of MU Extension as they look at the broader need of the region and statewide.

SkillUP

MU Extension will work in collaboration with Division of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) as well as other partner agencies. SkillUP partners will assist participants with job searches, job search training, educational services, vocational and technical training and other miscellaneous support services. The Family Support Division (FSD) of Missouri Department of Social Services will contract with MU Extension to provide accelerated case management as well as enrollment, assessment and educational services.

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Franklin County 4-H Interstate Exchange (Session 6 of 6)

Description:

Missouri 4-H is about young people discovering their interests with the guidance of caring adults. It’s about young people making friends and memories in clubs or other groups while honing their knowledge, skills, attitudes and health to lead in a complex and changing world.

The interstate exchange is a two year partnerships between Franklin County and a county in another state.  In the two-year exchange each county hosts teens from the other county for one week, and travels to visit the other county. 

Session topic:

Interstate Exchange trip to Wayne County, New York

Registration:

Teens involved attend an orientation meeting and then commit to the program when enough details are available, usually by January of the 4-H Club year.
