    LaunchU Part 1, 2, & 3 (Session 3 of 3)

    When:  Friday, July 12, 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Description:

    This overview will introduce you to the critical aspects associated with starting your own business. It is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture. LaunchU Part 1 will provide participants with an introduction to starting their own business and conducting a feasibility analysis. The section will include Introduction, Communicating the Business Concept, Gathering Information for Feasibility, Products and Services, Industry and competition, market segments and strategies. LaunchU Part 2 will provide participants with an introduction to starting their own business and conducting a feasibility analysis. The section will include pricing, cost of business, break-even analysis, projecting sales, operating costs, cash flow, and plans for further action.     Master Gardener - Perry County Master Gardener Training Spring 2019 (Session 11 of 12)

    Description:

    The University of Missouri Extension’s Master Gardener program is an opportunity for people of all ages to receive in-depth horticulture training and then apply what they have learned to improve lives in their communities and educate others about gardening. Training includes 30 hours of instruction by horticulture instructors as well as many guides and handouts:
    Topics include plant growth and development, soils and fertility, vegetable gardening, home fruit production, insect and disease control, annual and perennial flowers, basic landscaping concepts, and lawncare and weeds.
    After completing Master Gardener training, Master Gardeners volunteer 30 hours to educate others on gardening topics and research–based horticulture information. Volunteer activities may include work in clinics in the community, helping local residents diagnose plant and insect problems write articles for newsletters and newspapers, exhibits at home and garden shows and fairs, organize community gardening projects, develop youth gardening programs, teach gardening classes, conduct home horticulture research, and assist in senior gardening programs

    The registration fee for Master Gardener training is $165. The registration fee includes a state program fee, core manual book, nametag and training supplies. Deadline for registration is April 23, 2019. A minimum of 10 participants is required to hold the class. If this minimum is not met, refunds will be issued.

    Blackberry Production Workshop - Cuba

    Description:

    Blackberries offer huge potential for Missouri farmers. Though a challenging crop to produce, blackberries are in high demand for many markets. The Blackberry Production Workshop will offer educational sessions and a tours of an innovative blackberry farm. Join local and nationally known blackberry specialists and farmers to gain expertise on a wide range of blackberry topics, including the blackberry shift trellis, blackberry cultivars, establishing new blackberry plantings, blackberry production practices, blackberry weed management,updates on blackberry insect issues, creative marketing strategies for blackberries, processing blackberries into value-added products, blackberry growers profiles, and on-farm tours of innovative blackberry producers.
