    Mid-America Grassland Evaluation Contest

SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity.     The Diabetes Self-Management program is a 6-week community-based class that assists participants in managing their type 2 diabetes. This program, developed at the Stanford Patient Education Research Center, covers topics including: techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, exercises for improving strength and endurance, healthy eating, meal planning, appropriate use of medication, and working with health care providers. Participants make weekly action plans, share experiences and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program.     Diabetes Self-Management Program - Clarity Healthcare May 2019 (Session 6 of 6)

    This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals.     Jefferson County Extension Council Meeting

    Description:

    Monthly County Extension Council meeting to conduct business and plan programming efforts in the county. Meetings are open to the public. Faculty staff attending in addition to Extension Council members include: Mistti Ritter, CES CED and Jody Ferguson, Office Support Assistant.

    Detail of a funding partnership with between the Jefferson County Extension Council and Jefferson College to support a Youth Programming Assistant were approved along with a plan update tools available in the board room and conference space as presented by CES Mistti Ritter. Dates were set for the required biennial audit of county extension finances, and a date for the 2020 budget meeting was set by the finance committee. Additionally, the Jefferson County Extension office will help host the county fair Open Exhibits Competition and 4-H will host family day on Sunday of the fair with funding support from the Hillsboro Civic Club. There is no Extension Council meeting in July.
