Cedar County Achievement Day
When: Saturday, June 15, 2013, 8 a.m. to noon
This is an annual event for all 4-H members to test their project knowledge and skills. Usually includes demonstrations, judging, fashion revue and public speaking. Members may present a demonstration in any project in which they are enrolled. Those members in good standing enrolled in clothing, knitting or crochet may participate in the county Fashion Revue contest. Events are judged and ribbons are awarded. The top scoring participants are eligible to attend the Regional Achievement Day, but may participate in only one event at that contest.
All Registration Forms are due by May 31st to the Cedar County Extension Office. more...
Food Preservation Camp (Session 1 of 5)

"Food Preservation Camp" is a one day event that allows participants to focus their time and attention and learn the basics of food preservation: canning, pickling, freezing, drying, salsa and jams/jellies. Classes are hands-on and participants leave with recipes and handouts as well. more...
"Food Preservation Camp" taught all aspects of food preservation. During Session 1, Pressure Canning was taught, using the MU Extension Home Preservation curriculum.
Registration forms are available on the Greene County Extension website and can be printed out and mailed in with a check. Registration is also available online for those wanting to pay by credit card. Advanced registration is required. Space is limited to the first 20 to enroll and pay. more...
MU Extension "Farm Page of the Air" radio program (Session 168 of 261)
When: Saturday, June 15, 2013, 9 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Radio station KWTO
This radio program is intended to educate viewers on a wide range of topics related to gardening in the Ozarks. Morris Westfall conducts the interview with Patrick Byers, MU Extension-Greene County regional horticulture specialist. The program airs several times on Saturday and Sunday on radio stations KWTO, KTXR, and KBFL.
Macon County Achievement Day
When: Saturday, June 15, 2013, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This county-wide event held each year consists of many different contests for 4-H members to participate in such as demonstrations, judging classes, table
setting, collections, public speaking, skill-a-thon and personal development interviews. Clover Kids may also participate. 4-H Royalty interviews and fashion review will be held during Achievement Day as well. Winners in the demonstration, public speaking and fashion review categories may also advance to state 4-H competitions. The day will begin at 9:00am with the table setting, collections, skill-a-thon, judging classes, working demonstrations, personal development interviews, fashion review and royalty interviews. Around noon the Macon County Jr. Leaders will serve lunch as a fundraiser for their exchange trip. Demonstrations and public speeches will be given in the afternoon followed by an awards program to round out the day. 4-H members please make an effort to attend. This is the biggest contest day for Macon County 4-H.
A registration packet will be sent to 4-H families.
Alton Comet Cavaliers Meeting (Session 4 of 6)

Training will cover the basics of using culinary herbs in cooking throguh lecture and demonstration. Lunch will be served with various herbs! Taught by Don and Carol Koehler, Cape County Master Gardeners.

Franklin County 4-H Camp
When: Friday, June 14, 2013, 12:30 p.m. to Monday, June 17, 2013, noon
Franklin County 4-H Camp is a 4 day, 3 night residential camping experience for 4-H members and their friends age 8-14. The camp is held at Camp Derricotte in Cuivre River State Park near Troy. Campers participate in fun activities including making crafts, exploring hands-on activities, swimming, playing games and singing fun songs, meeting new friends, learning about our environment, exploring hands-on science, and more. The goal of the camp is to help young people develop social skills and build confidence in their ability to take care of themselves. Add traditional camp ceremonies to the mixture, and you have the perfect recipe for summer fun!
Campers stay in cabins with other kids about the same age under the supervision of trained 4-H teens serving as Camp Counselors and Adult Cabin Advisors.
Franklin County 4-H Camp

Partial scholarships are available from the Franklin County 4-H Council.
