    Health Care Self-Management--Cabool (Session 6 of 6)

    Diabetes Self-Management Program - Clarity Healthcare May 2018 (Session 6 of 6)

    Description:

    This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book. The program will be held at Clarity Healthcare, 141 Communications Drive, Hannibal, MO 63401.

    Session topic:

    Participants will learn how to manage their diabetes when ill, how to care for their feet and how to communicate with their healthcare team. They will complete an action plan for dealing with their diabetes in the future.

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 at Olsen West (Session 11 of 17)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
