Take Control of Your Finances - Sedalia

"Take Control of Your Finances" is a seminar that provides information to those who are unemployed, underemployed, laid-off or dislocated. Its focus it to help attendees develop a plan to survive, reduce stress and continue to meet their needs until a new job opportunity is offered. Topics include: filing for unemployment benefits, talking with family about finances, reviewing personal resources, developing a budget, prioritizing debts, contacting creditors, avoiding scams and predatory lenders, considering available community resources and more.
The program is operated in collaboration with Business and Industry under a state contract with the Department of Economic Development. Local Career Centers work with Extension specialists to serve individuals and arrange the seminars.
To participate you must be registered with jobs.mo.gov. Please visit their website to create an account.
To register for the class, contact Missouri Career Center (660) 530-5627. Seminars are offered each month in two locations and there is a minimum class size of six registered attendees.
