Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Greene County (Session 10 of 11)

Description:

The "Stay Strong, Stay Healthy" program was developed by Tufts University and is designed to help middle-aged and older adults improve strength, flexibility, and balance. According to research conducted by Tufts, strength training improves bone density, can help reduce falls, improves arthritis symptoms, and increases flexibility in middle-aged and older adults and can lead to a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Session topic:

Participants will do warm-up exercises for about 5 minutes. They will do 8 simple strengthening exercises that can be done with or without weights. Cool down stretches will be done at the end of the session.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an eleven week program for middle-aged and older adults. The program's goal is to improve health and quality of life. We will be incorporating: warm-up exercises, simple strengthening exercises (with or without weights), and cool down stretches. Strength training can benefit you in many ways: Arthritis relief, improve balance, enhance flexibility, strengthen bones, weight control, lifts depression, stress reduction, reduce risks for heart disease, maintain healthy blood sugar levels, etc.

Youth Leaders is a leadership group open to 4-H members that are 13 years of age older. We work together on community service projects to help improve our communities, help our citizens and make life more enjoyable. Youth Leaders also help lead activities at the Back to School Fair the first Saturday in August. The group learns about being a 4-H project leader so they can help lead real project meetings alongside the adult volunteers throughout the year.

If you are looking for a way to get involved in a leadership role, Youth Leaders is a way to do just that. This group meets about every other month at the Extension Office. We will have snacks at the meeting to munch on.
