2014 State 4-H Congress (Session 1 of 3)

Residence Halls, Cornell, Missouri Theater. and other buildings on the University of Missouri's Columbia campus.

Description:

State-wide leadership event for youth ages, 14-19 to experience campus living, attend learnshops and an opportunity to interact with peers. Election of State 4-H Council for 2014-15 will be conducted during the event. Adult advisors are available using a l:10 adult to teen ratio.

Through each county office. Each county sets their own deadline.

Chronic Disease Self-Management-Bates County (Session 2 of 6)

When:  Wednesday, May 28, 2014, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Description:

Chronic Disease Self-Management brings people who have similar concerns and problems. Participants are armed with tools to better manage the challenges that dealing with a chronic condition presents. Topics covered include pain and fatigue management, effective communication, goal setting, physical activity, healthy eating, stress management. Participants learn that they have a "tool box" for managing their challenges; they just have to remember to utilize the tool box.

Session topic:

Topics to be covered include feedback and problem-solving, dealing with difficult emotions, physical activity and exercise, preventing falls and improving balance, and making an action plan.
