The process is intended to be intensely participant driven, BUT we need people to attend to be heard. Four (4) architecture students are working with a broadly representative Vision Advisory Committee and need YOUR participation to build the integrity of a long range vision for the city of Sheldon.
This visioning effort is intended to develop a broader discussion of how the study area in Sheldon can better realize its important potential for placemaking, heritage tourism, transit, housing, 'city repair', and related economic development.
Since Spring 2007, the academic collaboration between MU Extension and the Drury Center for Community Studies has assisted 28 communities with 30 visioning projects resulting in 5 DREAM Initiative communities and economic activity in the projected range of 20-30 million dollars. For each community this represents a first step along a path toward revitalization, entrepreneurship, economic development and overall sustainability.
Final public review and input on Development Concepts addressing the issues & considerations related to a long range vision for Sheldon. Emphasis is on linking the town to I-49, developing self sufficiency and creating a stronger sense of place.
