Attendance of an orientation session is a required first step to participate in the training classes. Orientations will be held on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2 from 6-8 pm at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center. Contact Kelly McGowan at mcgowank@missouri.edu to register for orientation. Training classes will begin on Feb. 16 and be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-4 pm through April 11. All classes but 2 will be held at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center; the additional 2 will be held at the Springfield-Greene County Library Station.

Living a HEALTHY LIFE with a Chronic Condition (Session 2 of 6)

Chronic conditions and diseases, like cancer, obesity, arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety, are often a daily and long-term battle. There isn't a cure for such conditions, but fortunately, the symptoms that come along with these conditions can be managed through lifestyle and behavior changes. This free program will help individuals with a chronic condition, or individuals caring for a loved one with a chronic condition, take back control over their health and be able to live a more enjoyable life through self-management techniques. What are self-management techniques? We will cover several of these each week, for example, action planning, eating healthy, physical activity, using your mind, and communicating. Come enjoy a safe environment to interact with others who are struggling with similar symptoms and problems, and find relief!
