Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (Session 1 of 7)

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a FREE, 6-week workshop that assists participants and their caregivers in managing their chronic health conditions. Participants discuss topics such as: meal planning, appropriate exercise routines, weekly action planning, goal setting, as well as sharing experiences and helping each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program. Participants will receive the “Living A Healthy Life with Chronic Disease” book and a relaxation DVD.

2018 Master Gardener - Hillsboro (Session 6 of 11)

Description:

Class meets every Monday evening for 11 weeks. Provides in depth horticulture training for Missourians who wish to spread their knowledge of gardening. Prepares volunteers for horticulture questions frequently asked by citizens around the state, based on unbiased research based gardening information.

Session topic:

Vegetable Gardening – Learn about site selection and other considerations such as raised beds and intensive gardening. Vegetables described as cool season and warm season. They are also grouped into families. Knowing which vegetables belong to which family can help with the best growing and harvesting practices. Basic growing methods per vegetable family will be discussed.
