Relatives As Parents--Northland Grandfamilies (Session 3 of 5)

Description:

The Northland Grandfamilies Program strives to raise awareness of issues facing grandparents/aunts/uncles who are raising grandchildren or nieces and nephews under the age of 18. In addition to providing support groups, programs and resources for the grandfamily participants; staff members also present informative programs and educational displays/exhibits throughout the Northland community to increase public knowledge and awareness. Venues include Parent Fairs, service club meetings, and volunteer trainings.

Session topic:

Northland Grandfamilies will be providing an educational exhibit at the Liberty Alliance for Youth annual "Parent University". Come and learn more about this program which serves grandparents, aunts & uncles who are raising grandchildren/nieces/nephews.

GrandFamily Conference

This conference is designed to address issues facing grandparents raising their grandchildren and to guide them toward resources that may be available to help fulfill the family's needs. Event Topics include: Understanding Diagnoses from Midwest Counseling, Focusing on Family Strengths, Benefits Quicklink and a legal session from a local attorney. Food Preservation-- 4-H Food Preservation Camp (Session 2 of 2)

The required MSMQA workshop is this Saturday, March 8th, 9:00am to 12 noon at the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.

4-H Food Quality Assurance Policy - All 4-H members enrolled in food animal projects (including beef, sheep, swine, dairy cattle, meat and dairy goats, rabbits, and poultry) must complete the appropriate level of Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance (MSMQA) certification to be considered a 4-H member in good standing in that project. Other county good standing guidelines may also apply. Check with your local 4-H youth specialist for current local guidelines. The online tutorial is available at

4-H members age 8 – 13 are required to complete the class 2 times, 2 years in a row + 1 more time when they turn 14.
