Missouri Historic Schools Alliance has a mission to research, restore and maintain one-room schools in Missouri. Participants in this MU Extension program work with individuals and other state and national partnering organizations interested in preserving the state's one-room schools as a means of community and economic development. The Missouri Historic Schools Alliance works with groups and individuals to establish non-profit organizations to preserve these schools and encourage their ongoing use as active rural community hubs. FREE VITA Tax Preparation by Appointment Only, Northwest MO (Session 5 of 18)

Description:

If you are low- to moderate-income, and would like help with filing your taxes, we will help you at no cost to you. Free tax returns can also be prepared for high school and college students; as well as individuals and families who do not own a business.
You do need to make an appointment. You can make your appointment by calling your local University of Missouri Extension Center or call the Andrew County Extension Center at 816.324.3147, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or you can leave a message and Kathy or Rebecca will return your call. Bring picture IDs for all adults, Social Security cards for everyone you are claiming, W-2s, 1099s, etc. It is also a good idea to bring anything you receive in the mail that indicates it is tax related and a copy of your last years’ tax return.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 3 of 10)

A ten week strength training program designed for middle-aged and older adults. Participation in regular strengthening exercises will help you to build muscle and increase bone density, thereby helping to prevent frailty and osteoporosis. Strength training can benefit you in many ways, arthritis relief, improve balance, enhance flexibility, strengthen bones, weight control, lifts depression, stress reduction, reduce risks for heart disease, and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Character Critters (Session 4 of 6)

The Character Critter program provided the six pillar of character Responsibility, Caring, Respect, Fairness, Trustworthiness, and Citizenship. Each session provides 30 youth a story, games and hand on activities. Students were provided a take home sheet to learn more about their family tree, they also made greeting card to take to someone they cared about.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy--Cole County (Session 9 of 10)

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is a strength training program developed by Tufts University to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase middle age and older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
