Trails Regional Library
432 N. Holden, Warrensburg MO map...
Has the cost of heating your home this winter put a crimp in your budget? Do the utility bills seem to constantly spiral upwards? Would you like to reduce your monthly utility bills? If you answered yes to any of these questions you should make plans to attend the Low Cost Home Energy Savings Tips and Tools Workshop.
The workshop is designed to feature low cost practices that can have a large impact on the home energy bill but are still simple enough that most homeowners can implement them on their own.
This workshop will demonstrate how to use a home energy checklist to evaluate that steps you should take first and what has the potential for the greatest and fastest payback. Weatherization of your home to keep the cold/hot outside air from coming into your home will also be a focus. Different types of weather-stripping and caulking materials will be discussed as well as some hands on exercises to show how to choose and install the proper material for each situation. Insulation is an important item for your home and what the recommended levels and the different types of insulation that can be used will be covered. The session will also include information on the ENERGY STAR program and a series of five-minute energy saving tips.
