Are you looking for the basics of starting a new business? This three-hour class provides a quick overview of the critical first steps needed to start a business. 
Participants learn to assess their strengths and weaknesses in terms of business ownership, and the importance of planning, meeting legal and regulatory requirements and identifying sources of financing.

The Basics of Writing a Business Plan

Description:

Start your business planning, or ramp up your game plan, with this three-hour class on Basics of Writing a Business Plan. Designed for current and aspiring business owners, this class is perfect for entrepreneurs who need to create a business plan, but have little or no knowledge of how to get started. Learn the key elements of a basic plan and how it can be a useful management tool. 
Participants will get tips and guidelines on writing styles and formats that produce polished, professional plans. Business counselors will facilitate class discussions to help participants consider individual situations, opportunities and additional valuable resources. Discussions are facilitated by business counselors who will help you ex-amine your individual situation, explore opportunities and discover new ideas. You’ll learn from other participants and have a host of valuable resources available to you.

4-H Trail Blazers Club Meeting (Session 7 of 9)

Description:

The Taney County 4-H Trail Blazers Club is open to all youth ages 5 to 18 years of age. This year the club has voiced an interest in horses, welding, camping, and a variety of other 4-H projects. There are several Clover Kids (ages 5-7) that attend as well as older youth who attend the meetings as well. The club is active in the community through service learning projects and 4-H events.

2018 Grow Your Farm (Session 4 of 10)

Grow Your Farm is designed for prospective farmers, beginners with some experience and seasoned farmers who want to make a "new beginning" with alternative farming methods. MU Extension specialists and experienced, innovative farmers teach the sessions. Participants attend a set of practical seminars and field days to learn from MU Extension specialists, farmers and agribusiness operators.This course will help you: Identify and prioritize personal and family values and use them as the foundation for the farm mission statement and goals. Learn how to "walk the farm" to assess the land and its facilities. Learn to evaluate the feasibility of particular farm opportunities. Understand the components of a business plan and create one of your own. Understand financial aspects of a business plan and review popular tools to manage financial records. Consider different types of agricultural marketing and draft a marketing plan. Become familiar with a variety of legal issues that pertain to farming enterprises. Network with other farmers.

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Cedar County Master Gardeners Training (Session 3 of 10)

Description:

Opportunities to gain and share horticultural knowledge is available through University of Missouri Extension’s Master Gardener program in Cedar County. The Master Gardener Program is an intensive horticulture course offered statewide by University of Missouri Extension. The 30 hours of classroom training provided by area horticulture and agricultural specialists set Master Gardeners apart from other home gardeners and programs. A total of 10 three-hour sessions taught by trained professionals will cover horticulture principles and practices. Course topics are: •Woody Ornamentals & Trees •Irrigation, Hobby Greenhouses & Tool Care •Plant Growth & Development •Plant Diseases •Soils & Composting •Entomology •Vegetable Gardening •Flower Gardening •Growing Fruit Crops •Turfgrass Master Gardeners are volunteers who assist with horticulture education in the community. Thirty volunteer hours from participants are required the first year after training. Following that, 20 volunteer service hours are required each year to remain an active Master Gardener. Volunteer service hours are usually acquired by serving in a county master gardeners organization. Activities might include serving as an advisor for a community garden, or helping to maintain a demonstration garden.
