Ozarks Press Association Conference

Description:

Join with other journalists from across Southwest Missouri at this unique, local, high quality training opportunity. There will be something for every member of the newspaper, magazine or media outlet staff. Our planned agenda is as follows: 8:30 a.m. – Registration opens 8:55 a.m. – Welcome 9 a.m. – Program 1 – “Excellence Under Pressure” – General Excellence winners/gold cup panel: 5-10 minute intro/summary by each panelist with 15-20 min for Q&A at end – Monett Times & Cassville Democrat – Jacob B, Joplin Globe – Carol S, Ozark County Times – Norene P, and Christian County Headliner – Tricia C 9:50 a.m. – Break (soda, water and cookies) (door prize drawing) 10 a.m. –Program 2 – (Working title) “Selling your core product in digital age” w/Q&A – Ted Lawrence, MPA Ad Director (former ad director for CPI, now Phillips Media) (FYI -- We may owe Ted a small stipend for doing this – he will discuss with Mark M – but he’ll only be driving from Nixa so travel isn’t an issue.) 10:50 a.m. – Break (soda, water – skip cookies this close to lunch) (door prize drawing) 11 a.m. – Program 3 – (Working title) “Don’t be afraid to promote your paper” (30- 40 min. w/ Q&A) – Jamey H 11:40 a.m. – Membership meeting and election of officers Noon: Lunch (door prize drawing) 12:45 p.m. – Program 4 -- Main speaker – Jean Maneke – ethics in both print and social media, getting it right in fake news environment, pot law implications, and variety of possible topics w/Q&A 1:55 p.m. – Break (soda, water, cookies) (door prize drawing) 2 p.m. – Program 5 -- Bright Idea Exchange (To get first one off to strong start, have Dan W be the first volunteer to talk about in-office subs (Dan). 3 p.m. – Wrap up/cleanup

Nixa 8th grade Career Readiness Connections (Session 1 of 2)

Description:

Nixa 8th grade Career Readiness Connections facilitates personal, sustained connections between members of the business and civic community and 8th-grade students at Nixa Public Schools through the Adopt-A-Class program with the purpose of providing positive role models and developing practical and social skills for the students and building the culture of philanthropy and teamwork for businesses.
