The Missouri Blueberry School Conference includes two days of informational presentations and tours. Nationally and regionally recognized blueberry experts will discuss a wide range of topics, including pest management, soil management, disease control, postharvest handling, flash freezing, blueberries and food safety, and cultural practices. Annually, private pesticide applicators are able to obtain or renew their licenses by attending a training provided by University of Missouri Extension specialists. The training is free, however attendees are required to have a Pesticide Core Manual. If you already have a manual, please bring it to the training. If you do not have a Core Manual, they will be available for purchase for $12 at the time of the meeting. Information will also be offered concerning Water Quality Improvement Through the Proper Use of Pesticicdes.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 1 of 10)

A ten week strength training program designed for middle-aged and older adults. Participation in regular strengthening exercises will help you to build muscle and increase bone density, thereby helping to prevent frailty and osteoporosis. Strength training can benefit you in many ways, arthritis relief, improve balance, enhance flexibility, strengthen bones, weight control, lifts depression, stress reduction, reduce risks for heart disease, and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy--Cole County (Session 7 of 10)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is a strength training program developed by Tufts University to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase middle age and older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
