Private Pesticide Applicator Training (Session 5 of 7)

Description:

Farmers and ranchers who use restricted use pesticides in their operations need to have a license to purchase those products. For producers whose license is expiring or for those needing a license for the first time, Private Pesticide Applicator Training (PPAT) sessions have been scheduled. Due to the new regulations, this training will not qualify you for the use of Dicamba. You must attend one of the statewide training sessions specific to Dicamba.

Beginning Farmers "Building It from the Ground Up Program" (Bolivar, MO) (Session 5 of 9)

Description:

This program is designed to address the needs of land owners looking to improve their property as well as their outputs and profitability over the long run of the operation. Realizing finances may be limited and/or restricted we will be working with those individuals trying to make sound economic decisions about their operations. Targeting both new and old land owners/operators looking to run up to 30-75 breeding cows, 100 stockers, 50-75 breeding goats and/or sheep, or a small registered livestock operation, on farms ranging from 20-160+ acres, operated as a part time and/or hobby farm as well as the full time farmer. This may not be their sole source of income, but a part-time occupation, recreational/retirement farm. It is not only about making a living on the farm, but about living on the farm, raising children on the farm, and having the rural way of life. The farm just needs to pay for itself and if it makes a little money along the way….. Great! Each program will consist of two or three segments, running approximately 45-90 minutes, with a break in between allowing for questions and refreshments. You may attend only the evenings you want or sign up to attend the entire program. The choice is yours.

Session #5 Stockers and Backgrounders: Selection, feeding, breeding, nutrition, health concerns and issues, vaccinations, worming, etc.

SSSH level 1 Lake Ozark (Session 3 of 16)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Healthy Soils for Healthy Plants James (Jim) Quinn: Horticulture Specialist, Associate Extension Professional, Cole County MU Extension Master Gardener Advanced Education Opportunity Willmore Lodge, 1 Willmore Lane, Lake Ozark, MO 65049 2 hour session beginning at 6:30 – earn 2 hours of Advanced Training. Take Home Hands-On Activities: continue session at home – earn 2 additional hours of Advanced Training. 1. If you choose to earn additional hours, you can select two of the following to complete: Details about each activity will be presented during the session on February 13. A. Take a soil sample, using your report recommendations calculate a fertilizer addition. B. Using the computer mapping site given, locate your landscape or farm and determine what type of soil it is and all the details about it. C. Perform a Percolation test. D. Using the plant finder on the website provided select several plants that match our location and soil type. 2. Prepare some type of sheet(s) to share your results on the two activities you did. You can display these on an area provided on the “Share Table” and answer questions about your results.
