Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training

Description:

A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will be held in February that is open to all interested adults and teens. Through this program you'll learn about emergency preparedness and basic disaster response skills, such as how to operate a fire extinguisher, light search and rescue, emergency medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

The three-day program will be held Feb. 4, 9:00 to 3:00; Feb. 11, 9;00 to 3:00, and Feb. 18, 9:00 to noon (this final day is a disaster simulation exercise).

Annually, private pesticide applicators are able to obtain or renew their licenses by attending a training provided by University of Missouri Extension specialists. The training is free, however attendees are required to have a Pesticide Core Manual. If you already have a manual, please bring it to the training. If you do not have a Core Manual, they will be available for purchase for $12 at the time of the meeting. Information will also be offered concerning Water Quality Improvement Through the Proper Use of Pesticicdes.

Ag producers needing to obtain or renew their private pesticide applicator license for purchase of restricted-use pesticides can attend the Private Pesticide Applicator Training being offered in Richmond. This license is valid for five years and participants must be 18 or older to receive the license. Training will be given on safe and proper use of agricultural pesticides.

The ten week Stay Strong Stay Healthy course is a moderate intensity, progressive exercise program that includes strength and balance training and is designed to improve muscle strength, dynamic balance, and flexibility.
