    Artificial Insemination Training Workshop (Session 1 of 3)

    When:  Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    Description:

    Subject: AI class
    The purpose of this class is to train beef and dairy producers in all aspects of bovine artificial insemination.
    Topics:
    • Female anatomy and physiology
    • Semen handling procedures
    • Facility requirements
    • Insemination procedures
    • Equipment care and maintenance
    • Timed AI protocols

    Classroom sessions and on-farm sessions will be all three days. Dress for the weather and be prepared to get dirty. Equipment and supplies needed for training is provided.

    Registration:

    Registration: $ 350.00 per person. Pre-paid registration holds your place in this class, First-come basis and is limited to 12 students. Please register by October 31st - Minimum class enrollment is required.

    Lunch is provided all three days. Lodging, transportation, breakfast and dinner are on your own.

    Warm Season Grass Cattle Grazing Workshop (Session 2 of 2)

    When:  Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    Bates County NRCS/SWCD Office
    625 W Nursery Street Ste B, Butler MO map...

    Description:

    Warm season grasses provide high quality summer forage for cattle grazing and allow rest time for lower quality cools season pastures,” says Patrick Davis, MU Extension Regional Livestock Field Specialist. Ideal planting time for native warm season grasses is winter and spring. Therefore, MU Extension will provide Warm Season Grass Cattle Grazing Workshops during November to educate cattle producers interested in knowledge on establishment, management and cattle grazing benefits of warm season grasses.
    Locations and times for these workshops will be:
    • November 8th, Kneeland Center, 209 A South Main, Liberal, Mo. at 1:00 p. m.
    • November 19th, Bates County NRCS/SWCD Office, 625 West Nursery Box B, Butler, Mo.at 6:00 p. m.
    MU Extension Agronomy and Livestock Field Specialists will give similar presentations at each locations. Presentation topics will include:
    • Warm Season Grass Development and Management
    • Cattle Nutrition and Grazing Management on Warm Season Grasses

    Leadership Ash Grove (Session 9 of 9)

    Individuals that enroll in Leadership Ash Grove must earn a set number of points to graduate. Participants will get hands-on training in leadership, grow their local network, and learn about local needs which will empower them to take on community leadership and volunteer roles that will improve Ash Grove! Grow your network, become a better resident, and learn how to improve the quality of life in Ash Grove.
