Bull Breeding Soundness Exam Clinic

When:  Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, 8 a.m. to Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, 5 p.m.

Where:
El Dorado Springs Veterinary Clinic
4975 S Highway 32, El Dorado Springs MO map...

Description:

This is a week long event where MU Extension is working with Zoetis and Dr. Brian Collins of El Dorado Springs Veterinary Clinic in El Dorado Springs to educate cattle producers on bull breeding soundness exams. Cattle producers bring their bulls in to have a breeding soundness exam conducted by appointment with the veterinary clinic. The breeding soundness exam identifies if the bull is adequate on semen quality, physical structure, and physiologically to breed cows. This allows the cattle producer to be confident that the bull being turned in with the cows is functionally sound to breed cows. Also this exam identifies bulls that are not functionally sound and the producer can cull those bulls and purchase new bulls that will be functionally sound and be more likely to breed and cows conceive to them. Also along with the exam cattle producers received educational material on breeding soundness exams, foot scoring, genetic testing cattle, upcoming bull and heifer sales For questions, more information, to setup an appointment to get you bull tested contact the Veterinary Clinic at 417-876-5805 or the Cedar County MU Extension Center at 417-276-3313 or by email at davismp@missouri.edu.
