Diabetes Self-Management Program - St. Charles (Session 6 of 8)

The Diabetes Self-Management program (DSMP) is a community-based program that assists participants and their caregivers in managing their type 2 diabetes. Participants discuss topics such as meal planning, appropriate exercise routines, weekly action planning, goal setting, as well as sharing experiences and helping each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program.

Description:

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Starting a Business: The First Steps

This training will provide you with an overview of the critical first steps associated with starting a business. It is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture. Participants will learn about the importance of planning, discuss basic legal and regulatory requirements such as legal structures, licensing, and tax form requirements. You will also be introduced to marketing and financial basics which will enable you to determine your market and competitive strategy. An aspiring entrepreneur needs to walk through this process and do the work up front to avoid costly mistakes before investing hard-earned money.

This MU Extension strength-training program is for adults who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Class is designed to improve flexibility, balance and strength. Level 2 participants are encouraged to be able to move to and from the floor. Equipment is provided. 4-H Trail Blazers Club Meeting (Session 2 of 9)

The Taney County 4-H Trail Blazers Club is open to all youth ages 5 to 18 years of age. This year the club has voiced an interest in horses, welding, camping, and a variety of other 4-H projects. There are several Clover Kids (ages 5-7) that attend as well as older youth who attend the meetings as well. The club is active in the community through service learning projects and 4-H events.
