Social Security provides basic protection against the loss of family income due to the
disability of a breadwinner. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to
people who are elderly, disabled, or blind and do not own much or have much income.
Children with disabilities are also often eligible.

services tries to help individual obtain health care and prenatal care services. Tel-Link
may also be used by professionals. There is no cost for any direct Tel-Link service.

The consortium accepts donations of used equipment that is in good condition (including
wheelchairs, shower chairs, walkers, TDDs, communication boards, etc.). Persons eligible
to borrow equipment must be living in Mid-Missouri, have documentation of physician or
therapist recommendation of item, and not be eligible for assistance through Medicaid,
private insurance, or other agencies.

A part of the Missouri State Library, this nationally funded library offers braille books,
audio taped materials, and necessary equipment on loan free of charge. The items are
delivered by mail with free return postage. Persons interested in using this services can
call the Wolfner Library or the Columbia Public Library Outreach Services office at (573)
443-3161 to have an application mailed to you. A signature of authorization by a librarian
or physician is required to determine need.
