September 2009

Darrell "DD" and Lois Duncan's gardens at 454 E. Hwy 160 were chosen as the September Yard of the Month by the Barton County Master Gardeners.  This yard features a beautiful gazebo surrounded by begonias along with numerous flowerbeds.  Garden statuary are placed throughout the area.  A small bridge leads to a storybook potting shed at the rear of the gardens.  Hanging baskets provide seasonal color while gravel paths add
tranquility to the garden.

August 2009

The gardens of Todd and Staci King at 159 SE 25th Lane (south side of the Lamar City Lake) were chosen as the Barton County Master Gardener's Yard of the Month for August.  The gardens hold a vast assortment of flowers and shrubs.  Several urns and topiaries are overflowing with color.  The various beds surround the home.  A private putting green has been landscaped behind the house and is surrounded by beds of flowering shrubs.

July 2009

The Barton County Master Gardeners have chosen the gardens of Ron and Karen Wegener
at 11 Northridge Drive as the July Yard of the Month.  This property has several berms loaded with colorful flowers and shrubs.  A large fountain is located near the entrance of the house.  The American flag is flown above a yard that bursts with red, white and blue color.  There are several large shad trees located around the property providing a cool atmosphere for strolling.  The trees located on the west side of the property are from seedlings
obtained around the house.

June 2009

The gardens of Monty and Linda Hines at 307 Truman were chosen as the Barton County
Master Gardeners' Yard of the Month for June.  The residence is surrounded by multiple flowerbeds and garden statuary.  Several seating areas have been established to relax and enjoy the views.  Numerous birds enjoy the birdfeeders around the fountains, hostas and colorful vegetation of the yard.

May 2009

Sam and Shirley Bull's yard located at 504 Gulf Street was chosen as the Barton County
Master Gardeners' Yard of the Month for May 2009.  These gardens blend beautiful statuary
with elegant garden architecture to create a majestic landscape.  The gardens surround a historic home and have the appearance of a vintage estate.  Several fountains are placed around the gardens that are brimming with hostas, roses and topiaries.

April 2009

Jerry and Beverly Freeman at 1312 E. 15th was chosen as the Barton County
Master Gardeners' Yard of the Month for April 2009.  The gardens surround the house with color
and interest.  Several bulbs are tastefully placed to add vibrant colors of spring.  The Freeman's have several Knock Out Roses nestled around garden architecture throughout the landscape resulting in a park-like setting.  Beverly Freeman stated they added a yellow Knock Out Rose to the collection this year.
