In the fall of 2006 the Barton County Master Gardeners designed a Demonstration Garden to be planted in the Lamar City Park.  After meetings with the Lamar City Park Board permission was granted for the Demonstration Garden to be placed near the goldfish pond in the park.  A committee began seeking donations for the garden.  Several community organizations, individuals and area businesses donated money and/or products for the garden.
