Who are Master Gardeners?
Master Gardeners are adults of all ages who appreciate plants and
love to watch them grow and like to share information with others.
Who can be a Master Gardener?
Any one interested in learning and sharing horticulture knowledge
with their friends and neighbors. Each person entering the program
agrees to a commitment to the Master Gardener Program and volunteers at
least 30 service hours in the first year to their community.
What does the training cover?
Master Gardener candidates receive at least 30 hours of basic
horticulture training on a wide variety of topics taught by University
of Missouri Extension Specialists and other qualified professionals.
Following completion of the training, Master Gardener interns are
encouraged to join an existing Master Gardener group to participate in
organized educational and volunteer efforts.
How do I Become Involved?
Local Master Gardener classes are generally offered once each year.

What type of Volunteer activities are available?
Trained Master Gardeners provide the community with current and
approved horticulture practices to enhance their home gardens, lawns and
landscapes. Examples of activities may include planning community
projects, giving presentations to groups, assisting with a Master
Gardner hotline or conducting gardening demonstrations.
