Safety Acres Day Camp
The nationally recognized farm safety day camp for kids, “Safety Acres” will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Hillyards Technical School, 3434 Faraon Street, St. Joseph. This is the
twelfth year that the farm program has been held.
The one-day camp, designed for children ages 7 to
11, will be a challenging and entertaining forum to help young people learn
about common farm hazards. Children will receive hands-on experience and
demonstrations on topics including seatbelt safety, water safety, and the
dangers of power take-off equipment, farm chemicals, firearms, and grain bin
suffocation. Parents are encouraged to attend the event with their children.
Cost for the day is $5 per child, which includes T-shirt and snacks.
Registration deadline is April 15, 2005
Local and regionally based organizations developed Safety Acres in 1994 when they recognized the importance of saving children’s lives and reducing the number of farm-related injuries. For more information on the program or to receive a registration form please contact
