June 25: Due to the heat we worked in the garden first. Then Eva Jane showed us the difference between sand, silt and clay.
June 28: We went to Greg and Ruth Fast's farm and learned about many
different kinds of plants and biomes around their land. Some crops are planted
with the sun's location in mind. Warm weather crops have special locations
determined by their specific needs. We learned that the killing frost at Easter
time killed all of the fruit tree blooms, so there will be no fruit available at
the farm this year. We enjoyed helping the Fasts harvest crops of potatoes,
carrots, and cucumbers. Then we relaxed and had a bar-b-que on their lawn. The
weather was cool after last night's rain. Jackie
