Review of Current University Outreach and Extension
Programming in the County

Introduction

The first step in reviewing current University Outreach and Extension programming in the county is creation of a program inventory, which will be used at two different times during the overall county program plan development process. The inventory will serve as a basis for:

    1. the Current Program Review summary presented during deliberative group sessions.
    2. the first draft of the updated County Program Plan developed by county outreach and extension councils..

After the county outreach and extension council has conducted the deliberative group sessions, they will:

The county program director, working with staff serving the county, will prepare an "inventory" of current outreach and extension programs being offered in the county. The inventory may be organized around the current base program areas. A descriptive name of the educational program and associated events/activities should be listed for each program offered in the county (see example). Keep in mind that a program is "a purposeful sequence of learning activities/events" intended to lead to significant outcomes--not a single meeting, activity or event.

Council members will indicate the degree to which each program relates to the priorities they’ve established -- through the deliberative group input, their review of available background information and their final judgment regarding priorities. They also will make an estimate of program demand in the county, and whether, on balance, the program should be continued, revised or retired.

Results of the current program review will assist the council in putting together the first draft of the County Program Plan.
