Celebrating a new decade

A celebration of Elbert Turner’s birthday was hosted by his daughter in August as he reached a milestone birthday that is divisible by 10 and by 8 (so that could be age 80 or 40!). Interim Vice Provost and Director of MU Extension Tom Henderson has announced the appointment of Joy Millard as assistant vice provost for MU Extension. She has served as the interim assistant vice provost since 2013.

Condolences

Betty George, 90, lifelong Princeton resident and retired youth program associate (YPA), passed away April 2, at North Kansas City Hospital. Services were held on April 8, in Princeton. She enjoyed reconnecting with Northwest Region YPAs and MU Extension retirees at Gallatin meetings until her death.

Cheryl James, wife of retired Jackson County 4-H youth specialist Frank James, passed away May 27.

Retired Human Development Specialist Arthur Schneider, 71, passed away May 30. Before his career with MU Extension, he worked as a newspaper reporter and editor, and public information officer for MU. He served in Vietnam and was a sentry dog handler for the military police. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Central Missouri. James “Crawford” Price of Doniphan passed away May 31 in Poplar Bluff. He was 94. After serving in the Army during World War II, Crawford Price joined MU Extension, working with livestock producers from 1946, until he retired in 1984. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to the Ripley County Fair Board, 114 Washington St., Doniphan, MO 63935. Read more in his online obituary at http://bit.ly/1EFsH7m.
Claude Coberly died June 5 in Springfield. He was the father-in-law of Bev Coberly, MU Extension associate director. Notes of sympathy may be sent to Bev and her husband, Doran, at Rt. 4 Box 142, Ava, MO 65608-9804.
