Warm greetings from University of Missouri Extension.

The leaves are starting to turn, combines are running, football teams are taking the field…all signs that fall is in full swing in Missouri. Please consider this newsletter your V.I.P. invitation to any (or all!) Retiree and Friends meetings around the state. Of course you are welcome to invite a guest to join you, as well.

Fall meeting dates followed by details:

Oct. 2 — Gallatin
Oct. 8 — Nevada
Oct. 9 — Ozark
Oct. 17 — Sedalia
Oct. 21 — Fall conference in Columbia
Oct. 24 — Jackson
Oct. 28 — Online meeting (You just need a computer with an Internet connection to participate.)

Oct. 2 — Gallatin meeting

11:30 a.m. at the Gallatin Lions Club Building, 801 W. Grand, Gallatin
Presentation: Speaker Extraordinaire and “Extension Kid” Dewey Thompson, Missouri Training Institute assistant director. Thompson does training for the Missouri Training Institute and is the son of retired extension specialist Jerry and Melicent Thompson.

Oct. 8 — Nevada meeting

Flu shots and health screenings will not be available on opening day at the conference.

Oct. 24 — Jackson meeting

10:30 a.m. at the Cape Girardeau County Extension Center, 684 W Jackson Trail, Jackson
Presentation: “The Five Essential Documents Every Retiree Needs” by Family Financial Education Specialist Don Ray
Lunch: Group moves to Delmonico’s Restaurant, 2951 Old Orchard Rd., Jackson, for a Dutch treat buffet lunch. Lunch will be in a private meeting room (the middle room) so conversations can continue.

Oct. 28 — Online meeting
The first online Retiree and Friends meeting will be hosted by Joy Millard and Cynthia Crawford. To participate, all you need is a computer with an Internet connection!

Type your first and last name in the guest log-in. Click on the box “enter room.”
No microphone or camera on your computer is needed, but make sure the volume on your computer speakers is turned up so you can hear.
Meeting agenda: Greetings and announcements will come before the feature presentation, “Looking back to build for the future” by MU Assistant Vice Provost Joy Millard.
You can type questions and make comments into a chat box during the online meeting. The meeting will conclude no later than 11 a.m.
Registration: Registration is not required but is recommended so you will receive an email reminder of the meeting. Please email crawfordc@missouri.edu if you plan to participate.
