2011 Annual Report (PDF)

 Achievement Night

Thursday, April 26th at 6:00pm at the Fatima High School Multi-Purpose Room in Westphalia.  Make plans to come now.  Food will be provided so an RSVP with the number in attendance would be appreciated.

What is Achievement Night?
  1. You can give your demonstration and be judged on your presentation.  You can also qualify to give your demonstration at the Missouri State Fair 4-H Exhibit Building.  Take a look at the State Fair Demonstration Guidelines (http://4h.missouri.edu/go/events/statefair/demoguidelines.htm) of the different categories where we can send 4-H members from our county.
  2. It gives youth members a chance to practice their decision making skills and see what a judge has to do when deciding on what ribbon to give that youth during the fair.  Members will have 4 items at a table and put those items in order from best to worst with a given description and then “give reasons” why you placed them in the order you did.

For example: “Jenny is going hiking on a fall day.  Which shoe would be best for her to wear?”  There might be (A) flip-flops, (B) tennis shoes, (C) boots, and (D) women’s high-heeled shoes.

For my reasons, I would say:
I placed this class of shoes to wear to go hiking as C, B, D, A
I placed the boots first because they surround and protect the foot as well as providing good ankle and arch support while hiking. I placed the tennis shoes second because they still surround and protect the foot however, they do not provide as much ankle support.
I placed the high-heeled shoes next. Although it would be hard to walk on a rocky trail with a high-heeled shoe, it will still protect your toes, but might be hard to walk in.
I placed the flip-flops last because they provide no protection or support for your foot or ankle.

Not that hard, right?

Achievement Night is a lot of fun and you get to meet 4-H members in other clubs!  Come have fun with us!!! Prizes instead of Ribbons will be awarded!!
