Building Bridges & Strong Communities
In the United States, today's children can expect to live longer into old age. Children's attitudes toward aging can influence how well they adapt to their old years and care for the elderly. Obviously, it is very important to educate children about growing old and have positive perceptions about aging. Each generation is able to learn more about the other. Intergenerational programs provide opportunities for young and old to learn from and share with each other. The benefits of intergenerational relationships not only give each generation a sense of caring, respect, and social responsibility across ages and cultures, but also strengthen communities and the lives of children, youth, and the elderly. The Intergenerational Think Tank of Greater Kansas City is to foster the value of intergenerational relationships and collaboration on programs and resources and help generations grow together across ages and cultures to build strong communities. For more information or involvement in the think tank, please contact the Intergenerational Think Tank of Greater Kansas City at 816-252-5051.
