sound clipListen to the article

For safety and quality refrigerate fresh fish, meat and poultry as soon as purchased. Store promptly fresh meat, such as roasts, chops and steaks, in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. Ground beef, pork and stew meat will keep for only 1 to 2 days.

All poultry products, such as chicken and turkey, whole or pieces, can be stored for one to two days.

Fresh fish and shell fish can be stored for a period of 1 to 2 days.

If you do not plan to use these food products within the recommended period of time, wrap well and freeze them immediately for optimum safety and quality.

For additional information on food storage and food safety contact your local Extension office.
