Extension InfoNet is a joint project of University of Missouri Extension and Kansas State
University Research & Extension Service. Extension professionals from the 8 counties of the
Kansas City metropolitan area contributed messages to the program.
The University of Missouri Extension and Kansas State University Research & Extension
Service are land-grant institutions in Missouri and Kansas. They, along with Haskell Indian
Nations University in Kansas and Lincoln University in Missouri, are partners in the Land-Grant
University System which collaborates with the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension
Services (CSREES) of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The cooperative extension service is a network of state, regional, and county extension offices
in every U.S. state and territory. These offices have educators and other staff who respond to public
inquiries and conduct informal, noncredit workshops and other educational events. You're connected to
this system—which is now 90 years old—through your nearest extension office, which provides answers to
commonly encountered problems through educational materials (print, video, CD), Web-based information,
the telephone, and other means.
CSREES and the land-grant universities focus on critical issues affecting people’s daily lives and
the nation’s future. Through advanced research and educational technologies, we support, and empower
people and communities to solve problems and improve their lives on the local level.
